Wiffleball
From your backyard to our Turf Field, Wiffleball is a game that is fun for kids and adults of any age.
The game of Wiffleball is similar to that of baseball but is designed primarily for indoors or confined spaces outdoors. The game is played with a perforated plastic ball that is designed for maximum curving ability and a long, thin bat. Wiffleball may be played with running he bases or may be played by assigning value targets on the field. South Shore Sports Complex offers both!
Running Bases:
Similar to baseball/ softball rules. When the ball is hit, you must run to first base and continue around the bases if possible.
The fielders may get you out by:
1) Catching the ball before it touches the ground
2) Throwing the ball to first base before the runner reaches the base
3) Tagging the runner with the ball
4) Pegging the runner between the knees and shoulders while not on a base
Value Targets:
Along the field their are certain designated areas that are valued at different bases awarded.
ex: Some games may assign any fair ball hit past the pitcher is valued a single, any fair ball hit
past the infield is valued a double, any fair ball hit in front of the pitcher is an out, etc.
Basic Rules:
- Wiffleball may be played with teams of 2-5 people
- There is no designated catcher role, therefore as a courtesy the opposing team shall receive pitched balls
- At no time shall there be leading or stealing bases
- A designated "strike box" will be placed about 3ft behind home plate.
If the ball hits this box, the pitch is a strike
If the ball does not hit this box, the pitch is a ball
