All-Sports Skills Competition

Do you have what it takes to be the best? Are you the ultimate All-Around Athlete? Want to challenge your friends to a competition to prove once and for all who the best athlete is? Come show us what you got! Minimum of 10 participants required to hold the competition.

South Shore Sports Complex will be hosting an All-Sports Skills Competition for all ages. An adaptation to the popular NFL pass, punt, kick competition, South Shore Sports Complex would like to invite you to join us for our first annual All-Sports Skills Competition.

Registration fee of $35 includes:
- Participation in the 10 event competition
- Chance to win free training session(s) at South Shore Sports Complex

Speed Skills

Soccer Dribble Course

Picture
Participant's will have to dribble a soccer ball through a cone course as fast as they can. The fastest times will earn points.

Penalties - Missing a cone will result in a 1 second penalty on the participant's time.

Basketball Dribble Course

Picture
Participant's will have to dribble a basketball from one end of the court to the other side as fast as they can. Participants must reach down and touch the foul line and return to touch the start line and repeat for the half court line, and far foul line while maintaining their dribble. The fastest times will earn points.

Penalties - Not touching the lines, double dribbling, traveling, or carrying will result in a 1 second penalty.


Lacrosse Scoop and Cradle Course

Picture
Participant's will need to scoop and cradle 5 lacrosse balls and shoot them in the goal as fast as they can. There will be 5 lacrosse balls stationed at the center line of the Turf Field. Participants will need to run up to these balls, one at a time, scoop them up and cradle them past the cone before taking a shot at goal. Then return to scoop the second ball and take a shot at the opposite goal and so on for all 5 balls.

Penalties - Missing a shot on goal will result in a 1 second penalty.

Accuracy Skills

Baseball/Softball Pitching Challenge

Picture
Participants will pitch a baseball or softball 10 times at the strike zone in an attempt to make the perfect pitches and earn as many points as possible. The strike zone will have point zones that the participant will attempt to hit.

Scoring: Down the middle = 5 points
                On the corners = 3 points
                Just a bit outside = 1 point
                Outside the zone = 0 points


Football Pass Challenge

Picture
Participants will throw 3 football passes to targets located on the Turf Field in an attempt to earn the most passing yards. Participants will start at the line of scrimmage, backpedal 3 paces to the cone, side step 3 paces to the next cone, and forward 3 steps to pass the ball. Targets will be set up on the Turf Field that the participant must hit in order to earn points.

Targets:Boys – 10 yards left is 5 points
                           15 yards right is 8 points
                            20 yards left is 10 points
                            25 yards center is 15 points
              Girls – 5 yards left is 5 points
                                                                                  10 yards right is 8 points
                                                                                  15 yards left is 10 points
                                                                                   20 yards center is 15 points



Soccer Goal Challenge

Picture
Participants will kick 5 soccer balls into the goal at 10 yards away. Targets will be placed in the goal for each participant to aim for in an attempt to earn as many points as possible.

Targets: No goal = 0 points
                    In the goal, no target = 1 point
                    Floor center = 3 points
                    Floor corner = 6 points
                    Top net center = 8 points
                    Top net corner = 10 points


Lacrosse Goal Challenge

Picture
Participants will shoot 5 lacrosse balls into the goal at 10 yards away. Targets will be placed in the goal for each participant to aim for in an attempt to earn as many points as possible.

Targets: No goal = 0 points
               In the goal, no target = 1 point
               Floor center = 3 points
               Floor corner = 6 points
               Top net center = 8 points
               Top net corner = 10 points

Skills

Baseball/Softball Hitting Challenge

Picture
Participants will have 10 chances to hit as many balls as possible off of our pitching machine. The type of hits that the participant gets will determine the amount of points the participant earns.

Points: Missed Swing = 0 points
             Foul Ball = 1 point
             Ground Ball = 3 points
             Line Drive = 5 points


Football Receiving Challenge

Picture
Participants will run 5 routes and receive passes in an attempt to catch as many passes as possible. Points will be determined by the quality of the route and how many receptions the participant makes.

Points: Good route, dropped pass = 3 point
              Poor route, caught pass = 5 points
             Good route, caught pass = 8 points



Free Throw Shooting Challenge

Picture
Participants will be given 10 free throw shots on our 10ft baskets in an attempt to score as many points as possible. Each successful score adds 1 point to the participants total points for the competition.

Rules

Scoring Grid – Scoring for all Speed Competitions will be determined by the participant’s performance in each event,
                                        relative to the rest of the participants. The grid for points will be:

                                                                                            1st place earns 10 points
                                                                                            2nd place earns 8 points
                                                                                            3rd place earns 6 points
                                                                                            4th place earns 4 points
                                                                                            5th place earns 3 points
                                                                                            6th through 10th place earn 1 point

                                        The points earned in each of the Skills and Accuracy Competitions will be added to the competitors
                                        overall score. A perfect score throughout the competition would be a 325.

Winners – Child with the most overall points in each age range/gender will be the winner.
                 The competitor with the most overall points in each age/gender category will earn a trophy/medal

                            The 3 competitors with the most overall points in each age/gender category will earn their choice of 1 free
                                            training session at South Shore Sports Complex.
